TENNESSEE VEGETATION MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (TVMA)
2026 Scholarships
TVMA proudly provides two $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing a higher education in a field related to the green industry (Arboriculture, Forestry, Agriculture Science, etc.) and/or outstanding children/grandchildren students to two members of the Tennessee Vegetation Management Association studying at a college or university. Recipient(s) will be selected by a committee of TVMA members, appointed by the President, and will receive the following:
- A certificate commemorating the award
- $2,500 cash scholarship
- Invitation to attend the Annual Conference
- A one-year paid student membership to TVMA
Eligibility:
At the time of application, the applicant must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited College or University, or be the child or grandchild of a current member of the Tennessee Vegetation Management Association in good standing. The applicant may be enrolled in any curriculum, but must be enrolled in the semester directly following the semester in which the scholarship was awarded. Master and Doctoral candidates may also apply. This scholarship is awarded without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, or handicap status. All applicants must be citizens of the United States of American. Each applicant is personally responsible for meeting all application requirements and deadlines. Recipients may not transfer to another institution or field of study during the award year except by prior notification of the Scholarship Selection Committee.
Selection Criteria are as Follows:
- Scholarship (50%) – Diversity and difficulty of course work taken, grade point average, significant honors, awards and achievements, and membership to honor societies.
- Leadership and Extracurricular Activities (25%) – Participation in recognized clubs and organizations, elected offices, committees, projects and honors/awards for leadership and extracurricular activities.
- Personal Traits (25%) – Evidence of good personal traits such as character, ethics, dependability, innovation and a strong work ethic. The applicant should provide a one page resume that include information about work experiences, honors, awards or activities that reflect personal traits. Two letters of recommendation/reference discussing personal traits of candidate, personal (one) and scholastic (one) reference from employers, professors or academic advisors.
Application:
The completed application form (see attached below), copies of all official transcripts, one page resume that addresses the selection criteria, a personal letter of reference; a professional letter of reference; and a personal photograph must be submitted to the chairman of the TVMA Scholarship Committee by the 1st of December in the year the scholarship is awarded.
